We are thrilled to have held our first Medical Students Conference ‘Medical School & Beyond’ - Exploring different Medicine Career Pathways hosted by the University of Birmingham African Caribbean Medics Society and Melanin Medics.

 

This half day conference was targeted at current African-Caribbean medical students who were interested in the different Medicine Career Pathways; no matter what year you were in, everyone was welcome! It was the perfect opportunity to learn how to succeed in the coming years ahead and to explore medical training and careers from an insider’s point of view.

 

The day was filled with talks focusing on the various Medicine Career Pathways: Medicine, Surgery, General Practise, Entrepreneurship and Academia. Workshops and small group sessions discussing and advising on Intercalation & Electives, multiple opportunities to network and a Q&A Panel with our esteemed panel of doctors.

It truly was an informative day!
