Impact Communications Officer

The Impact Communications Officer is a dynamic role dedicated to amplifying Melanin Medics’ achievements and stories of change across all communication channels. Your primary focus is to translate data, testimonials, and programme successes into compelling narratives that showcase our organisation's real-world impact.

Responsibilities & Duties

  • Annual Impact Report Production: Lead the end-to-end creation, copywriting, and design coordination of Melanin Medics' annual Impact Report, transforming raw data into an inspiring, professional publication.

  • Impact Storytelling & Content Creation: Identify and interview programme participants, volunteers, and beneficiaries to write powerful case studies, articles, and success stories for our website, newsletters, and social media.

  • Cross-Channel Amplification: Collaborate closely with the Social Media and Marketing teams to design and execute targeted campaigns that highlight key organizational milestones and statistics.

  • Data Synthesis: Work alongside other teams to gather evaluation data, feedback surveys, and metrics, translating complex statistics into easily digestible, visually engaging infographics and copy.

  • Brand & Tone Consistency: Ensure all impact-related communications strictly align with Melanin Medics’ brand voice, values, and professional standards.

  • Play an active role in engaging in Melanin Medics Projects throughout the operational year, contributing to the organisation's overall communications efforts.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Strong written storytelling and verbal communication skills, a persuasive and passionate communicator

  • Must have good communication, analytical, and organisational

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Detail-orientated with experience in coordinating, writing, or designing reports, or newsletters

  • Comfortable working with qualitative data (quotes, testimonials) and quantitative data (basic statistics, survey results) 

  • Proficient in Canva or similar tools

  • Prior experience with marketing or social media.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, a persuasive and passionate communicator

  • Experience working in a not-for-profit organisation or charity role with exposure to the not-for-profit sector would be an advantage


Organisational Relationships

Reports to the Communications Manager / Director of Communications.


Works with Programme Officers, Research Officers, Outreach & Engagement Officers (for data collection) and the Social Media Team (for content distribution).

Location

Our work is focused in the United Kingdom. Our team work mainly remotely with in-person commitments for our seasonal events.


Expectation: 2-5 volunteer hours a week (varies based on roles and activities).
