Training and development officer (racial equity) is responsible for planning, organising and overseeing the EDI workshops, creating educational resources to promote racial equity in medicine and for identifying training and development needs.
Responsibilities & Duties
Strategically oversee the delivery and quality assurance of bespoke racial equity and diversity workshops developed for medical schools, NHS trusts and healthcare organisations, ensuring their relevance and impact.
Design and develop innovative, evidence-based racial equity training programmes and comprehensive learning materials that are culturally competent and impactful.
Implement robust evaluation methodologies, including surveys and feedback mechanisms, to assess the effectiveness and reception of racial equity programmes, informing continuous improvement.
Deliver and oversee the training and continuous professional development of workshop facilitators, equipping them with the expertise to effectively address racial equity in their sessions.
Compile, analyse, and present data, reports, and insights on racial equity initiatives to internal and external stakeholders, demonstrating progress and impact.
Stay abreast of best practices and research related on racial equity, diversity, and inclusion within the healthcare and education sectors.
Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to identify emerging training needs and opportunities for racial equity interventions.
Act as an advocate and subject matter expert on racial equity in medical education and training, contributing to broader organisational initiatives.
Contribute to the development of thought leadership content and resources that promote understanding and action on racial equity.
Play an active role in engaging in Melanin Medics Projects throughout the operational year, contributing to the organisation's overall mission.
Eligibility Criteria
Experience in developing, delivering and evaluating teaching sessions
Unwavering commitment to racial equity in medicine
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders
Strong written and verbal communication skills, a persuasive and passionate communicator
Experience working in a not-for-profit organisation or charity role with exposure to the not-for-profit sector would be an advantage

Location
Our work is focused in the United Kingdom. Our team work mainly remotely with in-person commitments for our seasonal events.
Expectation: 2-5 volunteer hours a week (varies based on roles and activities).
