The Outreach & Engagement Officer oversees the planning and implementation of outreach strategies, resources and events to increase the organisation’s visibility amongst aspiring medics of black heritage and young people.
Responsibilities & Duties
Serve as a point of contact for queries from aspiring medics.
Maintain a calendar of outreach activities
Support with event planning and delivery
Develop session material for school outreach sessions and education resources for aspiring medics
Nurture new and old relationships with outreach collaborative partners and stakeholders.
Represent the organisation at external outreach requests focused on aspiring medics
Contribute to monthly targeted newsletter for aspiring medics
Advertising for and recruiting volunteers, providing them with training and support, tracking their performance, and keeping records of their activities.
Coordinate volunteers where required, receiving their feedback, recognizing their efforts, and answering their questions.
Must play an active role in engaging in Melanin Medics Projects, for the operational year
Eligibility Criteria
Must be London based (or live a commutable distance to London)
Unwavering commitment to racial equity in medicine
Experience delivering outreach sessions to school students
Relevant experience organising and leading projects
Outstanding written communication and presentation skills.
Friendly, enthusiastic and positive attitude.
Detail-orientated with the ability to manage multiple projects at a time.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders
Strong written and verbal communication skills, a persuasive and passionate communicator
Experience working in a not-for-profit organisation or charity role with exposure to the not-for-profit sector would be an advantage
Organisational Relationships
Reports to the Director of Engagement and Outreach & Engagement Manager
Part of the Engagement Team: Outreach and engagement officers and Advocacy and engagement officers
Location
Our work is focused in the United Kingdom. Our team work mainly remotely with in-person commitments for our seasonal events.
Expectation: 2-5 volunteer hours a week (varies based on roles and activities).
