About
The MedSteps Programme is a development programme designed for second-year medical students of Black African and Caribbean heritage in the UK. The aim is to enhance students’ experiences by providing opportunities for personal and professional development beyond the medical school curriculum. Through a combination of skills-based webinars, group learning, and networking opportunities, participants will build the tools and confidence needed to navigate both medical school and their future careers. Topics include CV writing, networking, study skills, and other essential areas often overlooked in formal teaching. A key element of the programme is Action Learning Sets; in small peer groups, students work together to discuss challenges, share insights, and collaboratively develop solutions. This fosters a strong sense of community, promotes problem-solving skills, and supports the development of long-term friendships.
