About The Event

We are excited to have Officially Launched our organisation ‘Melanin Medics’ and celebrate with those who have supported and engaged with our platform over the past year. ‘A Time for Change’ was an action-packed night filled with inspiration, interaction and positivity. In such time as this, we believe that togetherness in the UK African-Caribbean Medical Community is imperative and we are dedicated to strengthening the unity in this community through events such as this and positively influencing the next generation of African-Caribbean Medics.

This event was catered to African Caribbean Medical Professionals & Allied Healthcare Professionals, African-Caribbean Medical Students and also to those interested in Equality & Diversity in Medicine.

The evening consisted of keynote speeches, live performances, networking and refreshments were provided. The event focused on ‘Succeeding in the Face of Adversity’ and we had  2 keynote speakers: Miss Samantha Tross – UK’s First Black Female Orthopaedic Consultant Surgeon and Ivan Beckley – Medical Student and NHS Entrepeneur.

At Melanin Medics, we passionately believe in the importance of creating a platform which provides support, guidance and promotes a strong association between African-Caribbean medical students & qualified healthcare professionals so we proceed to work towards addressing what we perceive to be a pressing issue.
